Renault Group is ushering in a new era of all-electric commercial vehicles set to begin next year. The French automaker has introduced three new all-electric light commercial vehicles (LCVs) featuring a modular skateboard platform designed for future fleet adaptability.
With a 125-year history, Renault has embraced electrification through its “E-Tech” program, bringing several passenger and commercial EVs to market. Recent highlights include the R4 SUV, a semi-truck with a 600 km range, and the ultra-efficient Filante concept.
While the electric R17 restomod remains a dream, Renault is moving forward with its E-Tech lineup, preparing to launch three new electric commercial vehicles next year.
In the recent press release form Renault Group, automaker reveled its upcoming range of light commercial vehicles will “redefined” the market segment as part of a full range of EVs that are flexible and scalable. The three new electric vehicle models were developed to meet a full range of business use cases as part of a collaboration with Flexis- an independent company founded by Renault Group, Volvo Group and CGM Group.
The first three models—Estafette, Goelette, and Trafic—will be built on Ampere’s modular skateboard platform. The Estafette E-Tech, inspired by Renault’s 1960s van, has been reimagined as an electric vehicle designed for urban logistics and last-mile deliveries.
The Goelette E-Tech is a modern electric version of the light commercial vehicle originally produced from 1956 for a decade. Its updated design offers three configurations for commercial use: chassis cab, box, and tipper.
Meanwhile, the Renault Trafic E-Tech electric represents the fourth generation of the iconic van, first introduced in 1980, with over 2.5 million units produced to date.
As per Renault, the entire new commercial electric vehicles range will be built at the automaker’s Sandouville plant in France. With this move the automakers plan is to hit the market sometime in 2026. Other additional details will be reveled in the coming month.
