There is another significant development in the EV charging infrastructure as from now Nissan EV will be able to use Tesla’s Supercharger network that will start next week.

Nissan Ariya

Last month, Tesla prematurely announced that Nissan EV drivers could access its Supercharger network, a claim Nissan later clarified was not yet accurate. However, the wait is almost over—Nissan has confirmed that access will officially begin next week.

There is announcement by Nissan today:

Nissan ARIYA drivers will gain access to 17,800 Tesla Superchargers within the NISSAN ENERGY Charge Network (NECN)1 beginning on December 10. The expansion brings the total NECN to more than 100,000 public chargers in the US and 25,000 in Canada.

More specifically the drivers of Ariya will benefit with this development. As only the drivers of Ariya will have access since Leaf vehicles are equipped with the CHAdeMP connector and the Supercharger’s opening to Non-Tesla EVs works with CSS ports.

Nissan says that Ariya drivers can now order a CCA to NACS adapter for $235. You can get it through your local Nissan dealer or Nissan’s US website. The Ariya is equipped with a front passenger-side charge port, which should make it easier to park at the Supercharger station without having to block another stall.

As Tesla continues to expand Supercharger access to non-Tesla EVs, challenges have surfaced, prompting the company to roll out updates to address the growing demand. Nissan has also announced that, starting next year, its electric vehicles in North America will feature NACS connectors as standard, aligning with Tesla’s charging infrastructure.
